overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is amongst the popular trekking expeditions experienced in the Annapurna Region. It is one of the best trekking destination for vacationers visiting Nepal for the first time. Poon Hill lies at an altitude of 3,200 m from where tourists can enjoy the beautiful sunrise/sunset from the Himalayan ranges.

From Poon Hill you can see the majestic mountains like Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna II (7,939 m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525 m), Mt. Annapurna South (7,219 m), Mt. Niligiri (7,041 m), Mt. Macchapuchre (6,998 m), Lamjung Himal (6,986 m), and many others snowcapped mountains.

During the trek you can experience the unique tradition and culture of the ethnic groups of Nepal like Magar and Gurung. The trek leads you through thick rhododendron forests where you can enjoy the national flower of the country. If you’re lucky enough you can also witness the endangered species of animals and birds wandering in the depths of the forest.

The entire Ghorepani Poon Hill’s overall itinerary follows the travel procedure form Nayapul to Ulleri to Ghorepani Poon Hill then to Tadapani-Ghandruk and back to Nayapul and Pokhara. This trek is the first choice for travelers who wish to embark on a trek that involves a lower altitude and is easily accessible. The difficulty level of the trek is almost close to minimum.

Throughout the trek there’ll be no problem finding an accommodation as the local tea houses, lodges, and hotels are found in abundance. The hotels offer a wide variety of fascilities including hot showers and attached bathrooms and toilets. The hot showers are heated with solar energy so one can enjoy a hot bath almost every day.

The villages of Ghorepani and Ghandruk are also fascilited with internet services, so there is no problem in communication. On the way back, we follow the path of the Annapurna Base Camp.
