Kaulepani Homestay is a community homestay program in which the Kaulepani Homestay Management Committee (KHMC) provides visitors to the host family over a rotational period. There are around 15 household homestays. Kaulepani village is situated in the Lamjung district in Province no. 4, 1600m above sea level. It is 170km from Kathmandu and around 6 km from the headquarters of Lamjung district, which is Besishahar. This village, located in the Besishahar municipality, boasts a full tourist area that combines scenic beauty, diverse biodiversity, and cultural unification.
They also provide warm hospitality by giving curd, a flower garland, and applying tika, and serve several varieties of local food such as kodoko sel roti, faparko roti, mohi, gundruk, and dhido, or traditional Nepalese dal bhaat, chicken meat, etc. Cultural dances, songs, and acts are performed in groups for the guests and entertained by them. Village Tourism Promotion Forum Nepal (VITOF Nepal) has announced that Kaulepani Homestay is the premier destination for tourists in 2014.
Kaulepani is a lovely village. The Marsyangdi dam looks like a beautiful green lake from the village. Visitors can get a fantastic view of the sunrise and the incredible 14 Himalayan peaks, such as Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Manaslu. The snowfall view at Manaslu during the winter season is one of the significant features of this village. This village also has several historical heritage sites like the Lamjung Durbar, believed to be constructed in the 15th century, and religious places like the Lamjung Klaika Temple and Kaulepanidevi Temple. It is also called a “mirror village” and offers a clear view of several Himalayan ranges like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and many more.
The hiking route has more than 20 varieties of laligurans and 40 varieties of medicinal herbs. Leopard cat, a well-protected and endangered species that is nationally seen as a vulnerable species by the IUCN red list category, can be found here. Some medicinal plants found in Kaulepani village are Chiraito (Swertia chirayita), Paniamala (Phyllanthus emblica), Satuwa (Paris polyphylla), Chutro (Berberis aristata) to name a few.
