overview

Though classified as trekking peaks, ’Labuche East,6119m, Pokalde,5806m, and Island (Imja peak),6189m, are moderately technical and offer the best possible introduction to are Himalayan climbing, climbing in one of the most spectacular regions in the world. The Three Peaks in Everest Region also includes Three High Passes, Renjo La, 5435 m, Cho La, 5420 m, and Kongma La 5535 m and five valleys in the Everest Region. This trek is achievable for any highly fit trekker who wants to develop alpine climbing skills and experience trekking and to climb in the Himalaya of Nepal.

Three Peaks in Everest region expedition begins with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, 2850 m, where the trek starts. Namche Bazaar, known as the Sherpa capital, is the last and largest village before heading west into the remote Bhote Koshi Valley.

Our first objective is Lobuche East, one of the most challenging trekking peaks in the Everest region. The approach trek takes one week from Namche and goes over the Renjo La Pass, 5435 m, descends to the beautiful Gokyo Lakes and ascends Gokyo Ri, 5360m, before heading over the Cho La Pass, 5420 m. We practice glacier and snow climbing with our Sherpa Climbing Guide while our staff establishes a high camp on the mountain. We will ascend the South Ridge to a steep snow camp from where we ideally place to the summit. The commanding views of Everest reward us for our effort. On the same day, we descend to Lobuche Village. We trek to nearby Everest Base Camp and Kala Pathar before heading to the Chhukung Valley where our next two objectives await: Pokalde and Island Peak. The climb to the Pokalde summit is relatively straightforward, and since we have learned some mountaineering skills and well acclimatised, it seems surprisingly relaxed.
