This twelve days trekking package takes care of the things like your airport transfer to and from the place named Lukla from where the trekking journey commences, licensed Nepali guide proficient in English, porters, permit for Pasang Lhamu Gaun Palika, entry fee for National Park and a shuttle service for transferring you to and from your hotel. Our representative at Sherpa expedition and trekking will come to receive you at the airport upon your arrival and accompany you to your hotel. Later, in the evening, you will be called for a pre-trek meeting at our office where you will be briefed about the journey and get acquainted with the trekking guide.

Do remember to bring along your passport, three passport-sized photographs and a copy of your travel insurance policy which is readable. You can put forward your queries here. You can clear all the due amounts here and the sign the contractual trip form and the non-liability disclaimer.

This is the first day of the trekking journey where you will be first transferred to the airport via private vehicle; from here you will fly to Lukla with this early morning flight. You will reach there within 30/ 35 minutes.

You will get introduced to other members of the trekking group and your luggage will be prepared for porters. We then start the trekking by heading to the Phakding village as we walk downhill on a stone filled trail; we walk past many prayer rocks and settlements like the Chheplung, Nursing, Lomdza, Thalsharoa, Thado Koshigaon and so on before we reach Phakding. Upon reaching Phakding, we can rest at the lodge and then explore the surrounding of the area. Overnight stay at a lodge in Phakding.

On this day, we move to Namche Bazaar as we walk past a suspension bridge alongside Dudh Koshi river and then follow the river bank as we cross settlements like Gumela, Thulo Gumela, Nyambua Thyang, Zam Flute, Bengkar, and Toktok. We will be accompanied by the wonderful jungles of Magnolia and Rhododendron.

We ascend to Monjo which is the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park; the team leader will ensure all formalities are fulfilled. Then we enter the national park and descend to reach Larja Dobhan; here we cross another bridge and ascend to a viewpoint where we can see the majestic view of Mt. Everest. We reach Namche Bazaar after an uphill climb. We will explore the market. Overnight stay at a lodge in Namche.

On this day, we stop at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization as we have already reached such high elevation. To acclimatize well, we need to stay active so we visit the close villages namely Khumjung and Khumde where we visit beautiful monasteries, hospital, and school or we will hike to the village named Thame. We will get to witness the traditional Sherpa culture and lifestyle there. If time permits, we can go to the museum, the headquarter of National park or we will chill in the café or bakery and use the internet. Overnight stay at a lodge in Namche.

We walk past Namche to reach Tengboche as we walk through the high ridge crossing the Tenzing Norgay Memorial Stupa. We can enjoy the amazing views of Lhotse, Taboche, Kangtega, Ama Dablam and Thamserku from here as we move to Khyangjuma village.

We descend to the Mani wall at Khumbu and move across picturesque rhododendron forest as we cross Sanasa. Then, we cross the bridge at Phunki Tenga which is over the river, Dudh Koshi. We move uphill through Rhododendron and pine forests. The trail becomes easier as we walk out of the lush green forest to Tengboche monastery. We will have enough time to explore the monastery and the surrounding there. Overnight stay at Tengboche in a lodge.

Our destination for this day in Dingboche. We descend to Deboche and cross the bridge over the river, Imja as we walk past Milingo. We will witness a huge Chorten in CHaturje.

After a steep hike as we cross few monasteries and chortens, we will cross another bridge at Somare. We follow the bank of Imja and walk through yak herds and alpine meadows to eventually reach the beautiful village of Dingboche after climbing uphill. We will explore the village and savor the mountain views. Overnight stay in Tengboche.

After the rest day in Dingboche, we climb uphill to Dusa from where we will head to Palrung Kharka. We cross a bridge and then hike to the Thokla Pass. We will relish the views of Khumbu Glacier as we move ahead through the moraine on Khumbu Glacier till we get to Lobuche. Overnight stay at a lodge in Lobuche.

We head to our main destination on this day as w start from Lobuche. We walk past the lateral moraine at Khumbu Glacier and walk to the Lobuche Passes w cross the finishing point of Lobuche glacier and Pyramid. Then, we descend to the junction of the Khumbu glacier, Changri Shar, and Changri Nup.

As we eventually reach Gorak Shep, we will leave our backpacks at the lodge we will be staying at and head to the Everest Base Camp following the moraine trail. The trail is glacial and rocky here and is adorned by colorful prayer flags. We then hike down to Gorak Shep. Overnight stay in Gorak Shep.

On this day, we hike to Kala Patthar to get a good view of Mt. Everest. We hike there first thing in the morning. After walking for around two hours, we will reach the viewpoint from where we can relish the view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Nuptse, and Lhotse. The sun rays falling on the snowy peaks will appear ethereal. After spending some time here, we go to Gorak Shep and then head to Pheriche as we walk past Lobuche Pass, the Pyramid, Palrung Kharka, Phulaji Kala and Thokla Pass. Overnight stay at a lodge.

We head to Namche Bazaar on this day as we walk past stone walls, Chortens, and the Jamyang and Pheriche Pass. The route moves downhill till the village named Pangboche. W walk along the riverside, cross the bridge at Imja river and then climb Tengboche to reach Phunki Tenga. Now after passing the settlements like Khyangjuma and Sanasa, we reach Namche Bazaar. You can spend the evening relaxing at the café/ bakeries using the internet and getting a hot shower at the lodge. Overnight stay in a lodge at Namche.

Our destination for this day in Lukla. We walk to the lower elevation as we cross the suspension bridge across the river, Dudh Koshi in Larja Dobhan. We ascend to exit point of the national park at Monjo and we head down to Phakding. Then, we walk all the way to Lukla. You can spend the rest of the time relaxing with the crew members or spend time in solitude enjoying the fresh air of Lukla. Overnight stay in Lukla.

We will bid farewell to Lukla and return to Kathmandu with a heart full of memories created in the mountains. After a hearty breakfast in Lukla, we take a flight for Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the hotel upon reaching Kathmandu airport. You can spend the day the way you want to, doing individual activities. We will meet at our office to get your feedback on the journey after which you can go relax at your hotel.

Good to know

1. Trekking Equipment

We have provided some information below which will give you an idea about what important items you should bring along in the trek as an apt backpack and gar has an important role to play for the success of the trip especially when you are trekking. We suggest you bring all the important gear for the trip and not carry unnecessary things that will just add the weight. Check the list below:

  • Good down Sleeping bag; optional (Note that we can provide one if necessary which is to be returned at the end of the trek)
  • Rucksack bag or duffel bag; to keep your gear, this will be carried by porters
  • Daypack bag for personal use
  • Down Jacket
  • Shade hat
  • Warm wool hat to keep your ears warm
  • A pair of lightweight, warm gloves
  • T-shirts; two or three pieces
  • Lightweight thermal tops.
  • Fleece jacket.
  • Fleece Wind-proved jacket (optional)
  • A pair's nylon hiking shorts; quick drying one
  • Underwear
  • Two pairs of lightweight long underwear.
  • Two pairs trekking pants, preferably the zip on/off at the knees so they can be used as shorts
  • Four pairs of liner warm socks
  • A pair of light to medium weight waterproof trekking /hiking boots.
  • A pair of light trekking shoes for lodge/camp
  • A pair sandal (Optional)
  • A water bottle.
  • Head/Torch Light.

2. Medicines And First Aid Kits

  • for altitude-related problems (headaches) like DMX, carry extra Strength Excedrin
  • for general aches and pains, carry Ibuprofen.
  • Imodium or Peptone besom, Flexon capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea.
  • for altitude sickness, Diamox 125 or 250mg or 400mg tablets
  • One small personalized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as anti-infection ointments, moleskin, some waterproof tape, band-aids, etc.(We, at Sherpa expedition and Trekking company, provide you with first aid kits)

3. Miscellaneous But Mandatory

  • Passport and extra passport photographs (Four copies)
  • Water-proof wallet/pouch for money, passport and travel documents.
  • Lip care (Balm) With at least SPF 20 (2 sticks)
  • We recommend Sun's cream with SPF 40
  • Pocket knife.
  • Iodine tablets for Water purification
  • Toiletry kits along with toilet paper inside a plastic bag, hand wipes, and soap, liquid hand sanitizer, towel, etc.

Note Regarding Itineraries:

Even if we normally adhere to the given schedule, the itinerary is subject to change for several reasons which are beyond our control. This includes weather and landscape conditions, apt campsite availability, and the general fitness level of the group members.

It is necessary to understand that our trek is logistically complex and it is not atypical that adjustments might have to be made. Our guide will provide you with details each evening about the next day's plan and their good judgment have proven to the history of winning treks that Sherpa Expedition & Trekking.
