Ghorepani Poonhill trek is a fantastic trekking destination around the Annapurna region in Nepal. This trekking journey has to offer an amazing view of seventy-eight majestic peaks which are over 6000 meters. From the Poonhill viewpoint, you can see the picturesque view of the sunrise and its beautiful rays falling on the towering Himalayas which will leave you astonished. As much as this region is rich in scenic natural beauty, it is equally rich in culture; you get to explore the culture and lifestyle of the Gurung people, see their cultural dance shows and enjoy the warm hospitality as well.

This trek is perfect for both veteran and novice travelers given that it is not at a high elevation and there is less probability of facing altitude sickness. Moreover, this trek does not require you to have special training; nonetheless will power and courage is essential to conquering it. This trekking journey is suitable for families and for people who have limited time to travel as it requires lesser time compared to other treks. The favorable time for this trek includes March-May and September-December.

Itinerary

When you reach Kathmandu airport, you will be received by our representative and transferred to the hotel of your stay. After a break and relaxing time, you can come to visit our office. Or, you could go stroll around Thamel where you can go for souvenir shopping too. In the evening, delicious welcome dinner awaits you; this is hosted by us from Amazing Nepal Trek & Expedition for your welcome. We intend to familiarize you with authentic Nepalese cuisines with this Nepali dinner. If your flight is late than the set time, we will arrange the dinner and pr-trek meeting for the following day. Overnight stay at Kathmandu in a hotel.

After we have breakfast, w head out for sightseeing tour around Kathmandu where we visit the historically and culturally significant sites like Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swoyambhunath. This will give you a close view of the art and cultural side of Nepal. You will be introduced to the unique architecture of Nepal. You will also get the chance to visit the home of the Living Goddess named Kumari. Later, we introduce you to your trekking team and we shall also discuss the trekking journey.

After we have a heart breakfast, we move to the tourist bus stop to board on the bus to Pokhara. This scenic drive has to offer amazing views of the landscape of Nepal which will amaze you. We walk along hills, streams, and river. We reach our destination Pokhara in the mid-afternoon.

After a hearty breakfast, we drive to Nayapul along the zigzag way and then we start our trek as we head to Birethanti which is big village by the river at the confluence of the rivers Bhurungdi and Modi. We walk till Sudame on an offroad ad then we ascend the side of the valley to Tikhedhunga. We cross a bridge and then climb on the stone staircases to Ulleri village.  Here we can enjoy the magnificent Hiunchuli and Annapurna South.

After we eat breakfast, we start our trekking journey walking through the oak and rhododendron forests. We climb up steps and after walking for a few hours, we get to Ghorepani. We stay at Deurali (upper Ghorepani) on this day where we can see the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks.

We start early on this day as we walk to Poon Hill to witness the sunrise view, We walk past rhododendron forests and as we move ahead we can see the amazing views of the towering Himalayan peaks when we scale higher elevation on the hill. We can see the Annapurna range on the north, Dolpo, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu. After having a great time at Poon Hill, we return to Ghorepani and have breakfast.

We cross many ridges on our way to Tadapani and we walk across rhododendron and pine forests. We enjoy the sight of snowy peaks on this trek.

We have a short, easy walk across forests and mostly down the trail. We catch glimpse of the mountains time and again.  We reach Ghandruk as we walk on the trail. We can explore the beautiful surrounding of this amazing Gurung village.

This is our final day of the trek; we move across the beautiful terrain and cross several picturesque villages as we move to Syalui bazaar which is beside the bank of Modi river. We follow the river Modi for the most part till Birethanti and then walk gradually to Nayapul. We return to Pokhara for the night.

After eating breakfast, we head to the tourist bus station from where we board on the bus to Kathmandu We will reach Kathmandu at around 2:30-3 pm.

Good to know

Food And Accommodation

During your time at Pokhara and Kathmandu, you will be provided with a room at a standard hotel. While trekking, you will stay at teahouses. The rooms in teahouses are on a twin sharing basis. Note that given the remoteness of the Annapurna area, it is better to not expect it to be as sophisticated as the hotels in Pokhara or Kathmandu.

The meals provided on the trek include breakfast, lunch as well as dinner and you will be provided breakfast while in Kathmandu.  Breakfast and dinner will be done at teahouses whereas you grab lunch on the way. You will have limited options for food but it will be organic as well as hygienic; the food includes porridge, daal bhaat, bread, and Tibetan soup.

Can I Do This Trek?

Ghorepani Poonhill trek is suitable for both veteran and novice travelers. It is a relatively easier trekking journey. There is very less possibility of facing altitude sickness so you can probably do it; nonetheless you will require will power and courage to accomplish it. You should carry a light backpack to make it easier. We separate days for acclimatization to avoid altitude sickness and to make it comfortable we only set five to six hours days for trekking each day. If you have experience hiking and jogging this will be easier. We do recommend you to get a medical checkup before you take any kind of hiking or trekking.

Tour Briefing

You will be provided a comprehensive briefing on the trek and you will be provided with an information file. Also, you shall be introduced to your guide.

Trekking Staff

  • We provide you licensed, experienced guide proficient at English and is knowledgeable about eco-friendly and responsible tourism.
  • You will also have an assistant guide who will assist you all the time.
  • A porter is provided who will help you with your baggage; we will carry maximum 25kilogram weight.
  • We cover the insurance of our staffs.

Certificate

You will be provided with an ANTE adventure certificate after the completion of the trek.

Group Size

The group size can have two to ten people. You can also travel solo if you want. Contact us for solo travel and w will plan for you. Kindly inform us if the group has more than ten people so we can plan accordingly and adjust our itinerary and plans.

Acclimatization:

Note that we have designed our itinerary in such a way that there is minimal chance of altitude sickness since you get enough time to acclimatize. We realize the places that you will need to take a break at to adjust to the elevation. Lastly, we have members who know how to handle a situation where you face altitude sickness so do not worry.

Travel Insurance

We recommend you to get travel insurance so you can easily avail helicopter evacuation or have the trip canceled in case of contingency like theft, injury and so on.

Fees And Permits

You will be charged with a fee while entering the heritage sites, national parks, conservation areas, and other areas while you are climbing. We cover all these charges for you with the package price we charge you.
