Gosainkunda trek is an awe-inspiring trekking trail that lies in the Langtang region given the scenic and picturesque views it has to offer of the valley with breathtaking Langtang Himalayas, lush green rhododendron forests and the intriguing culture of the Sherpa and Tamang inhabitants of the region. Gosainkunda trek zone is also considered as a religious site and is revered by many given the widespread belief that the Gosainkunda lake is associated with Lord Shiva (the god of destruction and power). There is a popular belief that the god meditated in the Himalayas for centuries and then took a bath here to purify his soul. Many tourists with this belief take a bath here to get rid of their sins and miseries.

This trekking route is a very challenging one nonetheless it has to offer an incredible journey along with sub-alpine forests, magnificent Himalayas, icy glaciers and beautiful villages. You will be amazed at the scenic landscapes you will see and the interesting culture and lifestyle of local people. This is a great location to savor peace, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Itinerary

As soon as you arrive in Kathmandu airport, you will be received by our representative from Sherpa Expedition and trekking staff and be accompanied to your hotel. You will get time to relax and get refreshed in the hotel after which you will be provided a briefing about the trip on the following day. You will be welcomed to Nepal with a welcome dinner alongside Nepali cultural show in the evening.

We head to Dhunche from Kathmandu via drive after early morning breakfast. We move through a narrow highway which then winds through lush green hills. We will witness mountain sceneries and pass through beautiful, tiny towns and picturesque villages in this way. We reach Dhunch after around seven hours and explore this small town.

Today we have a short walk to Sing Gompa; this is to acclimatize to the high altitude. We could reach Gosanikunda but it could get difficult so we stop at Sing Gompa. We spend the day by strolling around this area.

We trek to Gosainkunda on this day as w pass through breathtaking landscapes that have to offer amazing views of mountain ranges. We reach Gosainkunda, the revered, sacred Lake for Hindus. The third lake among the different 9 lakes is considered as the holiest lake. This is an extremely significant site for Hindus. We enjoy the serenity of the natural surrounding of Gosainkunda.

This is the last day of our Gonsainkunda trek. We trek all the way to Dhunche where we stay for overnight. We descend a lot on this day, almost 2700 meters. Our trekking journey comes to an end today as w reach Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa.

Today we return back to Kathmandu from Dhunche via drive. The same route we took to go to Syabrubensi before takes us to the capital, Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we go to the hotel and spend the day in individual activities. You can always find a soothing massage, tasty food or go souvenir shopping and stroll around to keep yourself busy.

A tasty farewell dinner awaits you in the evening. You will be informed about the departure time when we reach Kathmandu.

This is your final day in Nepal. You will be transferred to the airport from where you will leave for your native land. You will be taken to the airport three hours prior to the flight schedule.

Best Time to Visit Gosainkunda

The favorable season to trek to Gosainkunda is Autumn and Spring. It is better to visit at the end of February to the beginning of June or the start of September to December's end given the unpredictability of the weather. You can also choose to go there in July or August but the scenery will not be clear because of rainfall.

The weather in Gosainkunda is very unpredictable and is ever-changing. The weather is mostly wet so be prepared with important items like warm clothes, walking stick, water bottle, raincoat, medicine, sunglasses, hiking boots, and food items.

Gosainkunda is a very popular and significant trekking trail for internal tourists. The travelers need to get a permit from Nepal Tourism Board situated in Kathmandu along with the Trekkers Information Management System.
