We wake up at 12 or 1 am and get breakfast after which we start our climb. We need to reach the summit before it is noon, this is because of the strong winds in the higher region which can cause trouble. At first, the path is sandy and then it turns grassy before it becomes boulder-strewn. When we move up, the slope becomes narrower and the path gets rocky. The path moves across a ridgeline and then moves to the snout of the glacier. W get to the summit ridge. We will use the fixed and man rope on our way up now to be safe. The length on the rope will depend on the season and the crevasses here. We will use ladders to cross crevasses. We get down to Island Peak Base Camp after having a wonderful time climbing, We celebrate the completion of this climbing journey.

Good to know

Given that you are trekking along a region with a different culture and environment. There is some consideration for this trekking journey.

Dos

  • Smile and greet the locals by saying the phrase “Namaste” or “Tashidelek”
  • Maintaining distance from people you see walking in front or behind you is essential while we prioritize walking in groups.
  • Make sure you refer to the guide if you are preparing on trying something new while trekking
  • Be well prepared for the following day by asking the guide about the things you might require next day as you can pack it in your pouch while rest is carried by the porter for your comfort during the trek.
  • Contributing to the donation boxes at monasteries will be appreciated around the trekking zone as they do not have tickets rates for visitors during the trek.
  • If you are feeling uncomfortable while climbing upwards informing your guide will help you out for making yourself fit throughout the trek

Don’ts

  • It is important that you do not disapprove the local culture and beliefs which has its own value even though you are uneasy to deal with it.
  • Without the prior authority of the local people, it is prohibited to take pictures of the local people.
  • Do not sense clumsiness when folks stare at you; they are just friendly human beings who are curious about the visitors and have no ill intentions towards the guests.
  • Do not assume extravagant facilities around the trekking zone; basic services can only be provided given the topographical difficulties
  • Harming the floras and faunas is strictly prohibited during the trek; be responsible towards the mesmerizing environment
  • Contributing money towards the people should be abolished as it will only encourage children and beggars to beg even more from the visitors.
