Overview
Trip Overview
Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, sits at an altitude of approximately 1,400 meters (4,600 ft.) within the great Kathmandu Valley. This valley has the great districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, a treasure trove of tales of culture and heritage that reflect Nepal's ancient history. The city is surrounded by the four majestic mountains—Shivapuri, Phulchoki, Nagarjun, and the ever-popular Chandragiri—and has a rare blend of busy urban life and calm natural beauty. It is an excellent spot for explorers and a doorway to short hikes, where the charm of the whole valley and its rich traditions come alive.
Just 32 kilometres from Kathmandu lies Nagarkot, a great village on the ridge renowned for its scenic views of the elegant and majestic Himalayas. On clear blue days, the vista stretches all across eight stunning ranges, including Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Everest, and the fine Numbur. October to December and March to April are the best times to visit and relax, as the mountains are often hidden through hazy skies in these months. Nagarkot is not just about the breathtaking views; it's a calm retreat where visitors can dive deep into the rustic charm, witness incredible sunrises and sunsets, and enjoy an enjoyable escape from city life.

ESSENTIAL TREK INFO
Good to Know
Brief Cultural Considerations
The test for you as a tourist in Nepal is to respect the privileges and principles of the local people and to minimise your impact, both culturally and ecologically. ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) is working to conserve the area's natural and cultural resources. We can all contribute to this by simply being conscious of our activities and how they affect the atmosphere around us.
Please Consider The Following When Trekking:
1. Dress Appropriately
The more is better. Skimpy dress in mountain communities is inappropriate, especially for women. T-shirts and trousers/long skirts are the suggested dress, but lengthy shorts are also acceptable. Signifying a determination to be subtle in your approach to their ethos will improve your understanding of Nepalese folks.
2. Don’t Encourage Begging
Don’t hand pens, cash or candies straight to the kids. This not only inspires begging but also causes much war amongst the children. You’d rather hand your aids or enclosures to an institute that will allocate them among the children.
3. Please don’t take the culture home with you
Consider before you buy any sacred relics or endangered animals.
4. Leave nothing but your footprint
Take your rubbish with you.
5. Smile
Easy to give, wonderful to receive. A smile surpasses all cultural boundaries.
6. Tip
Confiscate your shoes before going into a Nepali household.
