Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking 26 Days

Upon your arrival to the heart of Nepal, Kathmandu, you will also be received by our fine and smart representative through the airport and transferred to the hotel for your stay. After you take a break and are refreshed at the same time, you can join members of the whole group heading for the Manaslu Tsum Valley trek with you for a briefing on the journey. You can put forward your queries to the trek leader during this time. A fun dinner program awaits you at an authentic restaurant alongside the cultural show.

You will depart from your hotel in the morning for the Kathmandu sightseeing tour around the places which have significant cultural, religious and historical importance like the major stupas, temples, monasteries all included in the World Heritage Sites list of UNESCO. You will get time to prepare for Manaslu Tsum valley trek in the afternoon.

We will embark on our journey as we head to the exiting land of Mid West part of Nepal via drive. We first move to Dhading and head towards Gorkha region to reach the Soti Khola which is a warm, subtropical area for an overnight stay en route Arughat. We will stroll around the beautiful village in the afternoon; around its fun shops and restaurants.

On this day, we head to Machha Khola (930 meters) as with several ascends and descends. First, our trail takes us to the steep valley with lush green jungle and through tiny villages on the hills. We even reach a valley opposite to the Budhi Gandaki river. We reach terraced fields of Lapbesi and then descend to a sandy riverbed and then climb to Machha Khola where we stay overnight.

We go through many amazing villages and farm fields where vegetations vary. We head to Khola Bensi village from Machha Khola and then move to Tatopani "Hot spring". The valley sides get steeper here and we then move to the left river band as we pass a suspension bridge. We reach DObhan after moving through a patch of jungle.

After breakfast, our morning walk takes us to Lauri from where a suspension bridge leads us to descend to Yara Khola, an open valley; we then reach Jagat village after an hour.

The trail descends to stone steps to a river after Jagat; we move to the terraced hillside to reach Saguleri where we can see Sringi Himal (7187 meters) from a distance. After many ups and downs, w reach to the bridge over Budhi Gandaki, we then reach Philim for an overnight stay as we cross the bridge from Ghata Khola. Philim is a beautiful village with terraced fields and has local lodges to stay in.

From Philim, we walk towards the high areas as we pass through different farm villages with shorter climbs through terraced farm fields of barley and wheat. We reach Eklai Bhatti (Lonely Inn) as we climb on a rocky ridge following a bamboo forest.

We then move to the entrance of Tsum valley, that is, Lokpa as a walk after taking some rest. Overnight stay in Lokpa.

After our overnight stay in Lokpa, w head to the first attraction of our Tsum valley trek; our trail moves through a narrow gorge and with a descend and an ascend to rhododendron and pine forest, we reach farm villages from where we climb above Lungwa Khola and reach CHumling village for overnight stay. 

We will gain higher altitude from here as we move towards the east to the gigantic peaks of Ganesh Himal and to the west, Manaslu. The walk takes us to several landscapes and villages which resemble the Tibetan windswept plateau.

The morning walk leads to the downhill trail where we cross a bridge over the Smatiking Khola enjoying the views of Ganesh Himal (7422 meters). We reach Chokhanparo village which is our overnight stop.

Our trail leads us to the upper Tsum area in Nele (N-lay) where we first start an uphill climb into the open valley with few trees of juniper and willow. We reach Nele for an overnight stay as we walk uphill with panoramic views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal with enough time to visit the old meditation cave of Saint Milarepa (11th century) popular as a singer, poet and tantric guru among Tibetan and Buddhists.

We reach the highest point of the adventure on this day that is Mu Gompa as we walk up in the arid terrain that offers views of majestic peaks.

We can visit the unexplored places around the Tsum valley given its old villages and intriguing Mu Gompa with the historic scrolls, idols, relics, and statues. We can savor the culture and scenery of the upper Tsum village which is situated on a trail where is less frequented by trekkers as well as adventures. Overnight stay at Mu Gompa.

After having an amazing time in Mu Gompa, we head to Chhokangparo as we visit the amazing Rachem Gompa monastery walking on the trail with several ascends and descends following several farmlands and villages.

After a fun visit to the monastery alongside snowy mountains leading downhills, we reach CHhokangparo, our overnight stop.

On this day, we leave the high Tsum valley of happiness and head back to Lokpa where we join the trail of Manaslu. We reach Lokpa for an overnight stay.

Now that we have left the Tsum trail, we join the Manaslu trail as the walk with several ups and downs takes us to the Deng village with houses and terrains resembling the Tibetan style. After a few hours of walking, we reach the Bihi Phedi where we stay for overnight. Here we will find people of Tibetan origin.

Here, as staple crops, people cultivate potatoes, wheat, barley, and buckwheat. After trekking became popular in this area, carrots, spinach, and cabbages too got popular.

We walk for two hours on a steep valley to reach the beautiful Ghap village which is a possible lunch stop. We have cool alpine climate here onwards; we reach the coniferous forests where we pass through extensive farmlands and cross a big stream which flows down the Lidana glacier. We will savor the magnificent views of north Kutang Himal range, Saula Himal (6235 meters), Pang Phuchin (6335 meters) and other unnamed peaks above 6000 meters. Manaslu Himal and Simang Himal lie on the south along with other peaks above 7000 meters.

We reach Namrung as we ascend uphill gradually. Overnight stay in Namrung, also known as Sho Namru.

We follow many summer settlements on our way and then we get to the scenic valley all the way up to Lho village where we stay overnight. In this amazing village of Manaslu village, we will get scenic views of the Manaslu North face(8163 meters), Lho, the big village with the beautiful monastery and a number of Chhorten and Mani walls. We can see Ganesh I on the eastern side.

On this day, we lave Lho village to reach Samagaon which has to offer amazing views of Manaslu during the walk. Our walk follows the Budhi Gandaki river with views of Peak 29 and with two hours of the climb into a forest, we reach the Shala village which has to offer a view of Manaslu, Himal CHuli and Phungi.

Samagaon is one of the largest villages in the Manaslu region. People are largely involved in agriculture here and they cultivate crops like the buckwheat, barley, potatoes and few varieties of vegetables in this harsh terrain and cold climate. People still trade with Tibet which takes two or three days to a week's time.

We will also witness the historic monastery of this region. Overnight stay in Samagaon.

After staying at Samagaon for some time, we have a short day walk to the village of Samdo, which will take just a few hours. The walk will get slower due to the dry air and the steep trail and increase in altitude.

On this day, we will scale height gradually taking our time and relishing the views. Overnight stay in Samdo.

Samdu village is situated opposite to the Budhi Gandaki bank on a terraced hillside. There are approximately 40 houses with around 200 villages who survive in this severe cold condition.

Back in the days, Tibetan merchants and the local people traded and bartered in the Larkya bazaar which is close to the west side of Samdu.

We will take rest in Samdu and have a short hike exploring this intriguing village with views of snowy peaks.

We will reach the Tibetan market named Larke Bazar on this day after crossing some streams and then descend to the river, Budhi Gandaki. We will arrive at our lodge in Dharmashala after a steady climb after we have crossed the stream that runs down the pass named Gya La, this pass moves to Tibet. We stay overnight at Dharmashala.

This journey will be challenging but worth all the challenge and exhaustion with the views it has to offer. We will encounter beautiful glaciers lakes, valleys, villages and variety of plants and animals on your trail. It will feel strenuous to cross over the Larkya Pass. We will witness the majestic views of Cheo Himal (6820 meters), Gyagi Kung, Annapurna II (7937 meters), Himlung Himal (7126 meters), and Kang Koru (6981 meters). We will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

We will move through the beautiful forest of rhododendron, pines and summer pastures on this day relishing the wonderful views of snowy mountains.

We descend to Burdin Khola from Bhimthang and then to the base camp area of the West Manaslu zone. We will witness the views of Annapurna II to the southwest and Manaslu. Our trail descends to a narrow valley and to a plush green forest beyond a bridge over the Dudh Khola. After having a break, we continue descending to the Marsyangdi river and then reach the Tilje village where we stay overnight.

On this day, we move towards the Manang district as we head to the large village in Dharapani with a limb and on to the main trail which leads to the south towards the warmer zone following the river, Marsyangdi after which we reach Tal for overnight stay.  This is the end point of the Manang district.

Early morning, we follow a gradual path and then descend to meet the Marsyangdi river to reach the village, CHamje. The walk takes us to the Jagat village and downhill to the beautiful Syange with amazing views of pristine waterfalls.

We reach the enthralling top of the hills at Baundanda which overlooks the mesmerizing views of the valley and lush green hills after having crossed the low, warm fields of paddy and other farmlands.

On this day, our Manaslu Tsum valley trek comes to an end as we make a long descent to Ngadi village and follow the river Marsyangdi to reach Bhulbhule. We will be driving all the way back to Kathmandu along the fine route to Besisahar, which is the great headquarters town in Lamjung. After close to seven hours, we will reach Kathmandu; you will be gone to the hotel upon arrival to Kathmandu, and you can move around the nearby places after getting fully replenished and carry out several activities.

We transfer you to the airport from where you can head to your next trip or take the flight back home with memories of the Manaslu Tsum valley trek.
