This retired gem in the Annapurna region offers stunning panoramic views, gentle trails suitable for all situations, and a chance to witness Nepali culture firsthand. From lush rhododendron timbers to snow- limited peaks, the Mardi Himal promises an indelible friendly adventure – in just 4- 7 days depending on your pace.  

Mardi Himal is a 5,587- metre (18,330 ft) peak which lies in the Kaski quarter, in the Annapurna Conservation Area. It's part of the larger Himalayan range and provides one of the most amazing views of peaks in the area.  

The Mardi Himal journey offers beautiful mountain views without huge crowd siding on your peace and safety. This one- week journey starts from Pokhara megacity, taking you through thick and thick timbers of oak rhododendron, bamboo and town lets like Dhampus and Pothana along the way.  After the town lets, you reach the Mardi Himal Base Camp located grandly over at 4,500 measures. From the Base Camp, you get stunning views of altitudinous peaks like Mardi Himal, Annapurna South and Machapuchare in a suitable rainfall.

The trails are moderate in difficulty and comfortable for new pedestrians too.  The stylish time for this journey is spring (March to May) and afterlife (September to November). The skies stay clear to see the potent Himalayan peaks more. As the journey gets advanced, the views get further and further breath - taking!

DAY 1

Arrival in Pokhara

Moving through the Pokhara is like getting a lottery for nature lovers, with the calm lakes and great mountain vistas. This picturesque city also invites you to explore the natural beauty, starting with a great visit to Phewa Lake. You can also see the calm boat ride across the lake, taking at the reflections of the surrounding peaks, and make your way to the enchanting Tal Barahi Temple at the island's centre of the water. The brilliant atmosphere and great views set the perfect setting for your upcoming adventure.

In the afternoon, you will have time to see any last-minute supplies for your trek, ensuring you're exceptionally prepared for the journey ahead. As the evening goes down, indulge in a fine Nepali dinner at a local restaurant, where you can also eat and savour the incredible flavours while soaking up the warm hospitality of the region. 

DAY 2

Pokhara to Dhampus (1,650 m)

After a hefty breakfast, you will drive through Pokhara to the Phedi, which takes around 30 minutes or half an hour. Once you arrive, the trek to the Dhampus begins, taking around 2-3 hours. The trail has a remarkable ascent at the lush landscapes, giving some views of the majestic Annapurna range as you travel through the village.

Upon reaching Dhampus, you will see yourself coming to the charming Gurung village, rich in culture, tradition, and warm hospitality. Take some time to wander through the great streets, interact with some friendly locals, and enjoy the great mountain views surrounding you.

DAY 3

Dhampus to Forest Camp (2,540 m)

After breakfast, you will go on your trek, going on the trail at the lush rhododendron forests, where various colours make the fine backdrop. As you move up, you will also be treated to the majestic mountains' fine glimpses, enhancing the great wait of the adventure ahead. 

In the afternoon, you will go to the Forest Camp, a great spot surrounded by evergreen nature. This calm environment provides a great opportunity to rest as you take a leisurely hike around the area, deep diving into the beautiful scenery.

DAY 4

Forest Camp to Low Camp (2,970 m)

In the morning, you will pass through Forest Camp and start your trek at Low Camp. The trail gradually moves up, revealing breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, making every step a delight. As you go down the path, the great scenery provides a great backdrop, enhancing your appreciation of the great beauty of the Himalayas.

By afternoon, you will arrive at the Low Camp, where you can enjoy great views of Mardi Himal and other nearby peaks. The scenic spot is also great for taking a moment to relax and feel the majesty of the landscape. 

DAY 5

Low Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m)

You will start your trek at the Mardi Himal Base Camp. The ascent is steep but rewarding, with spectacular views on every side. The challenging terrain is well worth all the effort as you get closer to some of the most stunning landscapes in the Himalayas.

By the afternoon, you will arrive at the Base Camp, where you can dive deep into the breathtaking panoramic views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South and Machapuchare. This stunning backdrop provides an excellent setting for reflecting and appreciating the journey. As evening falls, you will share a meal with your trekking friends, telling the stories and experiences under a star-filled sky, creating great memories at this remarkable location.

DAY 6

Mardi Himal Base Camp to Siding and Return to Pokhara

After breakfast, you will descend through the Base Camp, taking a great route at the Siding. The trek back allows you to experience the landscape from a new perspective, with fresh views and a chance to see the area's beauty one last time. The descent is more straightforward and won't be hard on the legs, making it a pleasant journey in the lush surroundings.

By the afternoon, you'll arrive at Siding, a great village perfect for a great lunch and a bit of exploration. After soaking up the local charm, you will drive back to Pokhara, where you can rest and reflect on the finest experiences of your trek.

Good To Know

  • Altitude: While the Mardi Himal Base Camp is not extremely high compared to some other treks in Nepal, it's still important to be aware of altitude sickness. Make sure to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and be prepared to descend if you experience symptoms like headache...
