ESSENTIAL TREK INFO

Good to Know

  • Altitude: While the Mardi Himal Base Camp is not extremely high compared to some other treks in Nepal, it's still important to be aware of altitude sickness. Make sure to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and be prepared to descend if you experience symptoms like headaches, nausea, or dizziness.
  • Trekking Season: The best time to trek to Mardi Himal is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is stable, and the views are clear. During the monsoon season (June to August), the trails can be muddy and leech-infested.
  • Accommodation: There are teahouses and guesthouses along the Mardi Himal trek route, providing basic accommodation and meals. These places can get crowded during peak seasons, so it's a good idea to book your accommodation in advance if possible.
  • Packing List: Make sure to pack appropriately for the trek. Essentials include comfortable trekking gear, warm clothing (as temperatures drop at higher altitudes), a good-quality sleeping bag, a rain jacket, trekking poles, and a reliable pair of trekking boots. Don't forget essentials like sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a first-aid kit.
  • Physical Fitness: While the Mardi Himal trek is considered a moderate trek, it still involves several days of walking at high altitudes. It's advisable to be in good physical condition before attempting the trek to make it more enjoyable and manageable.
